Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Charlie Miller & 1969

Charlie Miller made an interesting comment, that his copy of the 5-30-69 show is from the master. (I believe he's also the one who put out the long-unheard set II of 12-4-73.)
I wonder if he has access to anything he wants to get in the Vault, and what permission he needs to "release" these things?

I was horribly teased by David Lemieux's comment back in the June 18-24 Taper's Section, when he released a bit of the 6/20 Fillmore East show, that the June/July '69 tour had been taped on cassette. Unfortunately, many shows of that tour are only available on aud tapes, or (as with 6/20) not at all....so I'm curious whether Mr Miller has any plans to make these available. Guess time will tell....

Check out Charlie's comment on Lossless Legs!

"I'm pretty sure that I have a Dark Star from July 69 that has not been circulated yet."

More to look forward to! (Maybe.)

That was an interesting exchange yesterday. I had some other questiosn for him but I had to go. It would be fun to chat with him sometime.

I'm sure many people here can recall what it was like to try finding good quality tapes 25 years ago. It still amazes me how much is now so readily available, thanks in large part to the efforts Charlie and people like him.

The text of 5.30.69 was prematurely posted on another site, when I inquired about it to the adminstrator;

theQuote:
I see the text but this date is not in the Zipped or Unzipped folders?

Grateful Dead - May 30, 1969
Springer's Inn - Portland, OR

This show has been circulated to a small number of folks with a request that it not be made public until Charlie Miller gives the word. Still waiting....

This past weekend they played this on KBOO's pledge drive during a 12 hour Grateful Dead and Friends broadcast. A friend in the area taped it from FM and is sending it over to me. This will be exciting to get a clean Charlie Miller SBD of the 5.30.69 show. I hear the Dark Star is a good one.

Charlie Miller is to transfer/edit/release as Betty Cantor was to taping. Seems CM has deep inroads and is respected enough to be in the circle.
